Luxury yachts 8% up on 2003. Cannes and
Nice benefit from the attraction the region exerts
on tourists, and events organised in Cannes also
draw the superyachts. Occupancy rates in Cannes
and Nice in high season are around 100%; rates
before and after high season increased this year.
Although Villefranche registers little yachting
activity, the increase was highest there in 2003.
Investments in equipment and training preceded
the relaunch of the dry dock in Villefranche -
the only one between Toulon and Genoa in
an effort to revive naval repair work and business
in general.
Cargo traffic increased by 3.7% in 2003.
A quality charter signed between the Port of Nice
and cement manufacturers whose main export
market is Algeria - led to a significant reduction
in noise and dust during loading.
Ports managed by the CCI participate in major
regional events in order to integrate their
neighbourhoods into the town. Internationally,
we promote Cruise and Luxury Yachting activities
around the globe at trade fairs (such as the Monaco
Yacht Show and Seatrade in Miami).
Nice/Villefranche and Cannes promote the French
Riviera within Med Cruise, an association of 66
Mediterranean ports. And the website www.riviera-ports.com
broadcasts up-to-the-minute information for customers
and partners.
The four ports we operate were awarded ISO9001
certificates in 2003. We conducted customer satisfaction
surveys for the sixth consecutive year (pleasure
boating, Corsica and cruises) and organised meetings
with long-term users. The results enabled us to
draw up corrective action plans to further improve
the quality of our services. Our call-centre for
Cannes and Nice is now open 7 days a week.
